It has been already two weeks that I’ve participated to the Volunteer program but still deep memories vibrating in my head . What an amazing opportunity to work alongside Ziwa rangers and experience their work, whilst contributing to conservation of the white Rhinos in danger of extinction. Walking for hours on foot Rhino trek and monitoring them, Shoebill Trek ,Night Walk in the forest, and also several hands-on practical work that I've really enjoyed. This was for me the best way enjoying tourism in Uganda while spending time with Ugandan local people and sharing their culture. As a volunteer, I was also amazed by the structure running around the Rhinoceros to provide them a healthy environment. Those 3 tons animals look like prehistorical animals but are amazingly super peaceful and quiet. They just slowly walk past you and grazing .... For tourist, no doubt about getting the chance to get very close to them. In addition to that, the Amuka Lodge accommodation was the ideal spot to live according to the nature ‘s rhythm as it’s situated in a wide space of savannah and woodlands. This let you also enjoying cohabitation with wild animals . Thanks again to Karlene, Kris & Angie and to all the staff who made this experience really unique . Thank you also for leading this NGO on a serious way with high ethical values and being so graceful with all the staff. And finally, Uganda deserve definitively the name of “the pearl of Africa” , Uganda is indeed blessed by beautiful scenery and by its warm-hearted people.
